UCSC researcher works on solar cell innovation

SANTA CRUZ - In September, the city unveiled its climate action plan, which, in part, aspires to increase the number of homes and businesses utilizing solar energy tenfold by 2020.
With a financial boost from five recently awarded grants totalling $1 million, UC Santa Cruz physics professors Sue Carter may just make that goal a little easier to attain through her research looking into cheaper and more efficient solar cells. Read more

Sue Carter, a professor of physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is pursuing a variety of strategies to develop cheaper and more efficient solar cells. She was awarded five new grants this year totaling more than $1 million to fund her research on new materials and technologies for solar energy. Read more
