Quantum Dot Solar Cells

Quantum Dots consist of small particles that experience quantum confinement, giving them tunable properties based on the size and composition. Carter Lab has long been interested in the application of these materials as photovoltaic devices.

In collaboration with the Kauzlarich Group at UC Davis, we are developing methods and applications of Germanium quantum dots in combination with Organometal hallide perovskite materials, such as MAPbBr3, for use in thin film PV.

In addition, we are working with Lead Sulfide quantum dots with perovskite materials for multijunction PV and are assisting the Zhang lab in the characterization of perovskite quantum dots.
